Search

To make the most of our archive's search features, simply type your keywords into the search bar below. If you have a specific name, title or phrase you would like to find, such as "Daisy Belle" or "Annual Report 1871", wrap the exact term in double quotation marks for a precise match.

You can also use the button at the left of the search bar to select whether to search for 'Any' of the words in the search bar or 'All' of the words.

By default, the search scans everything at once: item names, descriptions, metadata and the full text content of every page in our books, magazines and other documents. This means that you can discover hidden details across the entire collection in a single go.

If you wish to narrow your results further, click the 'Filter' button underneath the search bar to narrow your results by document type so that you only see the materials most relevant to your research. Additional filters, such as year range sliders, will then appear to help you refine your query further.

Our search results are automatically ranked by relevance, placing the closest and most useful matches at the top, making it quick and enjoyable to explore the fascinating stories, events and records from our Society's rich heritage.
